My late husband Gary and I adopted Lucy at 18 months from a border collie rescue. She was an owner turn in due to being basically crazy, overactive body and mouth. We live on a small ranch with minimal neighbors-perfect. Lucy was beautiful, smart, funny , goofy, great for the vet, friendly with people and dogs but she was also loud, hard to focus, stressie, noise sensitive; obsessive in many ways. Gary did obedience, rally, nose work and sheep herding with her. Herding was where she excelled. Focused, alert, instinctive so very beautiful to watch her run. She could run like the wind once she untangled her long legs. She was my hiking buddy and along with Jen our sheltie helped raise one of our few puppies, Frieda our beagle teaching her all she (Lucy) thought a dog in our home should know.

Lucy loved (obsessed) chasing tennis balls-only tennis balls!, swimming in a lake or river-never a pool but she did like her child’s pool to dig and splash and plop into like a sack  of potatoes after a long walk in the desert sun. As she aged, She loved watching “her livestock” going for walks, doing tricks and nosework and mostly keeping me on schedule these last 5 years after the passing of my husband. She made me get up, keep the horse schedule, walk her-she insisted! Go to the park, followed me everywhere, always at my side ready for any action. She was a very special, loving, sweet dog who gave everything she did 200%. She tried so hard to not leave me and did all of her stuff right up until the end.She will be deeply loved and missed always.
